Throughout her 25 year career, Elle Macpherson has been a prominent figure in fashion, film, television and business. Her career began in 1982 with a TV commercial for TAB cola that rocketed her into the modelling world as the favourite ‘Australian girl next door’. In 1986 Time magazine announced her as The Big Elle and ran a cover story on her career. Elle then appeared on a record 6 covers of Sports Illustrated’s Annual Swimsuit Editions and had her own worldwide sell out calendars in 1992, 1993 and 1994. She used this success to create ‘Your Personal Best The Body’ workout video that was voted the year’s best by Billboard magazine in 1995.

Before embarking on a career in business she enjoyed 2 years acting in a total 10 movies, first appearing in Woody Allen’s Alice. In 1993 she starred in Siren’s opposite Hugh Grant and Sam Neil, the film was produced by Miramax who subsequently offered Elle a two year multi-media deal with Miramax Films. In 1995 Elle stared with Sarah Jessica Parker in Eric Schaeffer’s romantic comedy If Lucy Fell. She portrayed the role of Blanch Ingram in Franco Zefferelli’s Jane Eyre and was cast opposite Jeff Bridges and Barbara Streisand in The Mirror Has Two Faces. She next appeared in Joel Schumacher’s Batman & Robin alongside George Clooney as well as 20th Century Fox’s The Edge opposite Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin. Elle also guest starred in 7 episodes of the NBC sitcom Friends throughout November and December 1999 portraying Janine Lacroix, the roommate of Matt Le Blanc’s character Joey.

However, her real calling she soon realised, was business; capitalising on the name and image she had developed and built over the years in modelling for publications such as Vogue and Elle. In 1989 she saw an opportunity to create a line of lingerie baring her name Elle Macpherson and in1990 Elle Macpherson Initmates was launched in Australia and NZ. In 2000 it took off in the UK and more recently the Gulf States, Canada and USA. Today Elle Macpherson Intimates is considered one of the most highly recognizable fashion lingerie brands in all markets. 2005 saw the launch of Elle Macpherson The Body bath and body collection in the UK. More recently Elle was appointed on the Board of Directors of Hot Tuna Surf overseeing design, management and strategy.
Testament to her success are the various awards she has won, including the Fig Leaves Entrepreneur of the Year Award (UK) 2005; Glamour magazine Style Icon Award (UK) 2006; Elle magazine International Style Icon Award (Spain) 2006.

Elle was ambassador for Fashion Targets Breast Cancer 2004 for the Breakthrough for Breast Cancer Campaign UK and Ambassador for the UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative in 2005. Currently she is the European Ambassador for RED, an initiative set up by Bono and Bobby Shriver to raise money and awareness for the Global Fund.

On the 14th of February 1998 Elle gave birth to a son Arpad Flynn Alexander Busson in New York City and to Aurelius Cy Andrea Busson in London on the 4th of February 2003.
